The United States carried out its thirteenth consecutive night of air and missile strikes against Iranian military targets on 23‑24 July 2026, extending the campaign that began on 12 July.  For the first time a B‑1 Lancer bomber launched from a British base struck IRGC command centres, drone‑storage sites, communications, coastal‑surveillance installations and naval facilities across Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island and Khuzestan Province.  President Donald Trump reiterated that any commercial‑shipping damage will be compensated with frozen Iranian assets and warned of further strikes on Iranian infrastructure if shipping in the Strait is attacked.

Iran’s armed forces warned of a “comprehensive” retaliation, claimed to have intercepted a Tomahawk missile, and asserted continued control over the Strait.  At least four civilians were killed and five injured in Ahwaz, with additional injuries reported elsewhere.

U.S. Central Command confirmed the operation, while Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps asserted it had struck U.S. facilities in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain; Bahrain responded by activating air‑raid sirens.  Congress approved a $95 billion supplemental war‑funding package, allocating $60 billion to the Pentagon, underscoring the conflict’s fiscal scale.  More than 50,000 U.S. troops remain deployed in the region.  Parallel to the U.S.–Iran exchange, Iran‑backed Houthi rebels in Yemen continue targeting Saudi oil tankers, keeping Brent crude near $100 a barrel and sustaining concerns about a broader regional escalation.
