Following that success, the Bulldogs suffered two losses to Southern Miss, with Southern Miss winning 3-0 in a conference opener and 3-1 in a subsequent match.

Texas Tech also saw success, improving to a 7-2 record after a 3-1 win against Tarleton State. The Red Raiders continued their winning momentum by defeating Central Arkansas 3-1, supported by career-high performances from Ella Chaney and Sophie Skinner.
