US-Cyprus bilateral relations have entered a period of significant strengthening, particularly in the sectors of defense, energy, and innovation. During the Cyprus Forum in Nicosia, US Ambassador John Breslow characterized the relationship as being in its “best period to date,” noting that the interests of both nations are closely aligned. While Breslow identified bureaucratic hurdles and certain EU regulations as obstacles to investment, he reaffirmed US support for a solution to the Cyprus problem based on a bizonal, bicommunal federation.

Following these discussions, Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides stated that Cyprus has “never been closer to the United States than it is currently.” He indicated that there are “no limits” regarding bilateral relations, specifically pointing toward upcoming strategic developments in the energy and defense sectors.
