In Nevada, the funding cuts total roughly $5.4 million. Significant impacts include the loss of $3.4 million for the Desert Research Institute to conduct cultural resource surveying and road mapping at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Other affected sites include Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument and Death Valley National Park. Nationally, the administration has halted more than 130 agreements and downgraded approximately 1,500 projects to “low priority status.” These actions affect various conservation and management efforts, such as wildlife monitoring, weather station maintenance, and cultural resource preservation in Yellowstone National Park. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-14: Trump administration blocks Nevada national park funding The Trump administration has blocked $4.4 million in federal funding for Nevada national parks, canceling contracts for wildlife monitoring, weather stations, and cultural preservation projects. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/trump-administration-blocks-nevada-national-park-funding ### 2026-09-22: Department of the Interior blocks $25.9 million in National Park Service funding The Department of the Interior has blocked $25.9 million in National Park Service funding, impacting sites like Yellowstone and Lake Mead due to misalignment with administration priorities. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/department-of-the-interior-blocks-259-million-in-national-park-service-funding --- Cite as: US Department of the Interior National Park funding cuts.
