U.S. Ambassador Leah Francis Campos has completed her first year of diplomatic service in the Dominican Republic. During her tenure, she has engaged in various community visits and meetings with political leaders, media representatives, and social figures to strengthen bilateral ties.

In October 2026, Ambassador Campos participated in an informal event in Baní to commemorate the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. The gathering included Dominican political figures such as PLD presidential aspirant Gonzalo Castillo and Senator Omar Fernández. While the event was framed as a way to project cultural closeness, the informal setting drew mixed reactions regarding its appropriateness for interacting with potential future leaders.
