In late July 2026, federal prosecutors announced the guilty plea of Saed Ali Mirreh, a 21‑year‑old resident of Kent, Washington, for conspiring to provide material support to ISIS. Mirreh’s plea covered plans to travel from Seattle to Istanbul and then Syria to join ISIS fighters, and set his sentencing for 16 October 2026 with a possible 20‑year term and a $250,000 fine.

Three days later, authorities reported a second guilty plea in a separate case: Anas Said, a 30‑year‑old resident of Houston, admitted to concealing material support for ISIS and making false statements. Said used social‑media platforms and Telegram to spread ISIS propaganda, including a self‑produced video for a media outlet. He faces up to ten years for the support charge and up to five years for the false‑statement charge, with sentencing also scheduled for 16 October 2026.

Both cases were investigated by the FBI and its Joint Terrorism Task Force, and they illustrate ongoing U.S. law‑enforcement efforts to disrupt domestic individuals who seek to aid foreign terrorist organizations.
