The United States Postal Service (USPS) has initiated preparations for the 2026 holiday season by addressing pricing and logistics.

In August, the USPS filed a notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission proposing temporary price increases for several package products, including Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, and Parcel Select. These adjustments, intended to cover extra handling costs and align with market practices, were scheduled to run from October 4, 2026, through January 17, 2027. The specific increases varied based on weight and delivery zones.

In late September, the USPS released its recommended mailing and shipping deadlines to ensure delivery by December 25. For the contiguous United States, the service-specific deadlines are as follows:

• USPS Ground Advantage and First-Class Mail: December 17
• Priority Mail: December 18
• Priority Mail Express: December 19

For destinations including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or other U.S. territories, the Ground Advantage deadline is set slightly earlier for December 16, while other service levels follow the contiguous U.S. dates. Deadlines for military and international mail are expected to be released in mid-October.
