In early September 2026, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath scheduled a state-level ceremony in Ayodhya to honor Anganwadi workers, helpers, and supervisors. The event, expected to host up to 15,000 participants, included the distribution of appointment letters to new staff and was designed to recognize contributions to early childhood care and nutrition.

Shortly after, the state government announced a significant increase in monthly honorariums for approximately 2.91 lakh workers. Monthly pay for Anganwadi workers rose from ₹8,000 to ₹12,000, while helpers saw an increase from ₹4,000 to ₹6,000. 

New welfare measures were also introduced, including annual cashless health insurance of up to ₹5 lakh for workers and their families, an increase in the annual provision of uniforms, and the distribution of smartphones for digital data entry. These revised rates were scheduled to take effect in September 2026.
