Vietnam is expanding its domestic vaccine production and availability through various international partnerships. In September 2026, the Vietnam Vaccine Company (VNVC) and Sanofi signed a declaration to produce three generations of vaccines in Vietnam, including 6-in-1, seasonal influenza, and meningococcal vaccines. This project, involving the construction of the VNVC Vaccine and Biologicals Factory, is expected to begin production in 2028 to support domestic and global supply chains.

Following collaboration with Swiss company Substipharm Biologics, the Envacgen vaccine against hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) officially began its rollout on September 25, 2026. Targeting the enterovirus 71 (EV71) strain, the vaccine is indicated for children aged two months to under six years. Clinical Phase III trials in Vietnam showed a 96.8% efficacy rate against EV71.

By mid-October 2026, the VNVC vaccination system had administered over 100,000 doses across nearly 300 centers in 31 provinces within just over two weeks of implementation. This rollout follows a surge in cases; the Ministry of Health reported more than 110,000 HFMD cases and nearly 10 deaths in Vietnam since the start of the year. 

Medical experts, including Dr. Truong Huu Khanh, have noted that vaccination is a critical tool to mitigate risks during the peak season of September to November. To support the rollout, VNVC has provided nearly 3 billion VND in support to families registering for full vaccination regimens to ensure children complete required doses.
