The Valencian Community established an official Day of Victims of Terrorism to honor those killed by terrorist actions. The first institutional commemoration was held in Mutxamel on September 16, marking the 35th anniversary of a 1991 ETA car bomb attack that killed three people and injured 27 others.

The ceremony, held at the José Bernabéu Alberola multipurpose center on the site of the former Mutxamel Civil Guard barracks, honored 44 people killed in terrorist attacks linked to the region, as well as Valencians killed by terrorism elsewhere. The tribute included victims of various incidents, such as the Hipercor bombing and the 11-M Madrid attacks. During the event, President of the Generalitat Juanfran Pérez Llorca stated that ‘no dignified society can forget those who suffered the consequences’ of such violence.
