Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea named true freshman Jared Curtis as the starting quarterback for the team’s matchup against NC State. Curtis, a highly-rated recruit from Nashville, had previously appeared off the bench in a game against Delaware.

Following his recent starts, Curtis was subsequently ruled out for Vanderbilt’s game against Georgia due to an undisclosed lower-body injury. The 19-year-old freshman, who had previously switched his commitment from Georgia to Vanderbilt, was ruled out after being listed as questionable throughout the week. Senior Blaze Berlowitz was designated to make his third start in Curtis’s absence.
