Greek striker Vangelis Pavlidis has secured his future at Benfica, signing a contract extension that keeps him at the club until the summer of 2029. Following the agreement, the 27-year-old has become the highest-paid player on the Benfica roster. This renewal follows significant interest from various European clubs, including a rejected 50 million euro offer from Fenerbahçe.

Pavlidis has maintained exceptional productivity since joining from AZ Alkmaar in 2024. During the 2026 season, he recorded 14 goals and three assists in 13 appearances, a form that prompted discussions regarding a potential extension even further into 2031. His performances have drawn Premier League interest, with Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa reportedly monitoring him, while Tottenham has reportedly sent scouts to observe his matches.

In October 2026, Pavlidis reached a major milestone by scoring his 200th professional career goal during a 2-1 victory against Santa Clara. This goal was his 17th in 17 appearances for the current season. Since joining Benfica, he has accumulated 77 goals and 21 assists in 127 appearances, making him the fourth-highest scoring foreign player in the club’s history, surpassing Mikael Maniche.
