In Venice, the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca' d'Oro is undergoing a major restoration and redesign project funded by a 10 million euro donation. Expected to conclude in 2027, the renovation focuses on restoring historical elements like 15th-century wooden ceilings and Venetian floors while modernizing climate control and lighting. Additionally, the gallery is participating in the 34th International Antique Biennale in Florence. In Murano, revitalization efforts include the Punta Conterie project, which converts former industrial spaces into hubs for art, design, and gastronomy. To protect the UNESCO-recognized glass bead tradition, the ‘Perle’ Project has been launched. This initiative utilizes digital innovation, such as a 3D virtual reality archive, to preserve delicate artifacts and promote traditional techniques like lampworking through education and international outreach. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-10: Murano revitalizes glass-making heritage through design and digital preservation Murano is revitalizing its glass-making heritage through urban regeneration at Punta Conterie and the UNESCO-recognized ‘Perle’ Project, which uses digital 3D archiving to preserve traditional bead-making. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/murano-revitalizes-glass-making-heritage-through-design-and-digital-preservation ### 2026-09-27: Venetian cultural heritage projects highlight restoration and art Venetian heritage projects include a major 10 million euro restoration of the Ca' d'Oro museum and a multi-sensory contemporary art exhibition at Palazzo Contarini alla Porta di Ferro. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/venetian-cultural-heritage-projects-highlight-restoration-and-art --- Cite as: Venetian cultural heritage preservation initiatives.
