Venezuelan athletes and professionals are seeing significant recognition and participation in Major League Baseball. In October 2026, six Venezuelan players—including Gabriel Moreno, Jackson Chourio, Willson Contreras, Luis Arráez, Eduardo Rodríguez, and Jesús Luzardo—were named finalists for the Luis Aparicio Award, which honors the most outstanding Venezuelan player of the season.

This prominence continued into the 2026 World Series between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Tampa Bay Rays. The series featured multiple Venezuelan contributors, including Brewers players Jackson Chourio, William Contreras, and Luis Lara, as well as technical staff members Néstor Corredor and Tomás Vera. The Tampa Bay Rays were represented by bullpen staff member Javier Bracamonte.

On October 24, 2026, Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno was named the winner of the Luis Aparicio Award. Moreno secured the honor with 502 points, receiving 65 of the 100 first-place votes, finishing ahead of runners-up Jesús Luzardo and Eduardo Rodríguez. This recognition follows Moreno’s historic season in which he clinched the National League batting title with a .311 average. He becomes the sixth Venezuelan to win the award in the same season he won an MLB batting title and only the second catcher to receive the distinction.
