The Finnish AI infrastructure company Verda, previously known as DataCruch, has reached unicorn status after securing $189 million in funding. This investment has brought the company’s valuation to at least $1 billion.

The funding round involved several international and domestic participants, including US-based Emergence Capital, Japan’s MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, and Finnish investors Varma and Lifeline Ventures. Varma contributed approximately €51 million to the round.

As an Nvidia partner, Verda provides the computing capacity necessary for training and running AI models, positioning itself as a European alternative to American hyperscalers such as Google and Amazon. CEO Ruben Bryon indicated that the capital will be used to expand computing capacity, with a broader goal of raising up to $1.5 billion in total capital this year and reaching $10 billion by 2027.
