On September 18, a 46-year-old woman was arrested in Verdello, near Bergamo, following an incident authorities described as an “attempted massacre.” Carabinieri officers responded to reports of a gas leak and broken glass at an apartment on via Adua.

Upon entering the residence, officers found the woman in a highly agitated state amidst dangerous conditions, including flooded floors, exposed electrical wires, and three open gas canisters. During the intervention, the woman allegedly attacked a patrol leader with a 24-centimeter kitchen knife, though the officer’s bulletproof vest prevented serious injury. The woman was subsequently sedated and hospitalized, while firefighters secured the building to protect the 12 other resident families from the gas and electrical hazards.
