Preparations for the 2027 Viareggio Carnival have commenced with announcements regarding musical and artistic components.

The Viareggio Carnival Foundation scheduled the selection of the official 2027 song for January 9 at the Gran Teatro di Torre del Lago. The selection process, held during the Festival dei Rioni, includes age-specific sessions and requires that at least one contributor be a resident or domiciled in Viareggio. Competition rules specifically prohibit the use of Artificial Intelligence.

In parallel, seven groups have submitted sketches for the six available aggregate platforms, or ‘carette’. The Project Examination Commission is evaluating these proposals based on a 70-point scoring system that considers artistic quality, cultural promotion, and historical participation. The final selection of platforms will be made by the Board of Directors.
