Clemson University head coach Dabo Swinney has announced the reinstatement of senior defensive tackle Vic Burley to the football roster. Burley had been serving an indefinite suspension following an August arrest for public disorderly conduct.

Police reports regarding the incident indicated that Burley was found asleep in a running vehicle with the odor of marijuana, a THC vape device, and a handgun. Following his arrest, Burley pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge and received a conditional discharge from Clemson University Municipal Court. To have the charges dismissed, he must complete community service, a drug and alcohol education program, and an intervention program.

While Burley will miss the upcoming game against Georgia Southern, he is expected to be available for the ACC opener against North Carolina on September 19. Swinney also noted that transfer defensive tackle Kourtney Kelly is expected to return “sooner than later” as the team seeks to bolster a defensive line currently facing depth challenges due to injuries.
