Vietnam is implementing various initiatives to strengthen its digital security and educational frameworks. The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) has conducted cybersecurity drills to improve defensive capabilities and is transitioning toward a model of educational development governance to resolve systemic issues.

Recent policy updates from the MoET aim to modernize the national education and vocational landscape. Under Circular 86/2026/TT-BGDĐT, STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) will be integrated into general education to foster innovation and digital transformation. This policy is designed to avoid imposing new mandatory subjects, additional administrative burdens, or expensive procurement requirements for schools. However, challenges persist regarding the implementation of technologies such as AI, Robotics, and IoT, as teachers may require intensive professional development to bridge the gap between policy and practice.

In the vocational sector, the Ministry is expanding training to meet the demands of the renewable energy industry. Circular 77/2026/TT-BGDĐT officially adds ‘Wind Turbine Operation and Maintenance’ to the list of recognized vocational training occupations. Effective December 1, 2026, this specialized field will be offered at secondary, intermediate, and college levels.

Complementing these institutional efforts, youth organizations continue to focus on digital literacy, helping students build ‘digital immunity’ against online scams, fake news, and cyberbullying. Local initiatives, such as those in Ha Tinh province, also remain focused on supporting youth entrepreneurship and the application of science and technology to support the digital economy.
