In late July 2026, Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng signed Decision No. 1315/QD‑TTg appointing Nguyễn Tiến Hải, a Central Committee member and former An Giang provincial party secretary, as acting Minister of Interior. A week later, the Vietnamese National Assembly formalised the change.
