In late September 2026, the Vietnam National Assembly Standing Committee passed a resolution to establish a protection regime for judges. This measure aims to safeguard judges and their relatives from threats to their lives, health, property, or legal rights resulting from professional duties. Chief Justice Nguyen Van Quang noted that judges have previously faced insults, mental pressure, trial obstruction, and physical attacks, stating the resolution is essential to “ensure judicial independence, and maintain public confidence in the justice system.”

Following this, the Vietnam Jurists Association held its 15th National Congress in Hanoi on October 7. During the event, Association President Nguyen Khanh Ngoc outlined goals for the 2026-2031 term, focusing on building a socialist rule-of-law state and addressing legal challenges related to the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and green development.
