Vietnam is restructuring its approach to trade remedies to better protect domestic production and manage market risks. The Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision 2230/QD-BCT to restructure the Trade Remedies Authority of Viet Nam (TRAV), expanding its mandate to include investigating harmful imports, providing early warnings for exporters, and managing a trade remedies information database.

During the third Trade Remedies Forum, officials emphasized a shift from reactive measures to proactive risk management. Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan stated that these tools aim to ensure fair competition and protect domestic capacity rather than restrict competition. The government is focusing on enhancing early warning systems, improving data quality, and increasing the capacity of businesses to utilize these tools. Currently, Vietnam has initiated 62 trade remedy investigations and maintains 37 measures against imported goods.
