The Vietnamese television drama ‘Căn nhà không mái che’ (The House Without a Roof) has drawn significant attention for its depiction of domestic violence and family instability. Set in the northern midlands during 2009–2010, the series follows Hạnh, a woman struggling to support her family while her husband, Bình, suffers from alcoholism and gambling addiction.

Initial episodes highlight the physical toll of the abuse, including a severe injury to Hạnh caused by repeated beatings. As the narrative progresses, the financial strain caused by Bình’s debts leads to a confrontation where Hạnh agrees to pay 90 million VND to settle his debts in exchange for a divorce.

Recent developments regarding the VTV3 broadcast have focused on the intense performances of the cast, including Huyền Lizzie, Doãn Quốc Đam, Thu Hà Ceri, and Minh Xíu. While earlier reactions to Huyền Lizzie’s performance were mixed, recent attention has centered on the realism of the violence depicted.

Huyền Lizzie revealed that while rehearsals were controlled, the actual filming involved improvised, intense actions by Doãn Quốc Đam that heightened the realism of her character’s fear and panic. The series continues to spark social media discussions regarding the reality of domestic abuse and its impact on children.
