Vietnamese traffic police have been performing emergency medical escorts for citizens and visitors in critical condition.

In mid-August, officers in Hanoi provided an emergency escort for a 5-year-old boy suffering from acute bleeding related to leukemia. Major Duong Quang Tuan led a specialized motorcycle to transport the child through heavy congestion to the National Children’s Hospital.

Later in the month, highway patrol officers on the Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong Expressway responded to a passenger bus in distress. They used a patrol vehicle to rush a 4-year-old boy experiencing high fever and seizures to Tien Giang General Hospital. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Huong noted that his unit has assisted in 12 such emergency medical transport cases since the start of 2026, covering incidents such as strokes and obstetric emergencies.

On the evening of August 29, officers from Traffic Police Team No. 6 in Hanoi provided further assistance to a 72-year-old woman suspected of suffering a stroke. While patrolling Ho Tung Mau Street during rainy conditions, officers encountered a vehicle requesting urgent help for a patient experiencing seizures and facial drooping. The police used their patrol vehicle to clear a path through traffic, escorting the woman to the A9 Emergency Center at Bach Mai Hospital.

On September 6, traffic police in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province, assisted a 43-year-old American female tourist experiencing symptoms consistent with a stroke, including sudden weakness and paralysis in her left arm. Officers used specialized motorcycles to lead the vehicle to a hospital, where medical teams successfully administered thrombolytic medication. The patient regained nearly full use of her arm within 24 hours.
