In late July 2026 Vietri di Potenza hosted the sole Basilicata stop of the Give Back Giovani Aree Interne Rural Tour. From July 29 to August 2, twenty young participants toured the historic centre, met Mayor Christian Giordano and learned about municipal actions on environmental protection, eco‑compatible development and the promotion of local assets for tourism. The tour continued to nearby towns—Biccari, Castel del Giudice and Bagnoli Irpino—highlighting dialogue among administrators, third‑sector groups, businesses and residents.

The municipality’s summer programme “E… State a Vietri” ran throughout August, offering a series of free public events. Highlights included a Fabrizio Moro concert on 14 August (the only regional tour date), a comedy show by Simone Schettino on 15 August, and a performance by local band Tarantanova Canzoniere del Sud on 16 August. Additional activities comprised a ball‑shooting competition, basketball tournaments, a children’s inflatable village, a youth cultural event, a gastronomy fair and the 12th “Tipica” oil and local‑product fair on 12‑13 August. Free parking and a shuttle service were provided, and Mayor Giordano reiterated the aim of boosting tourism, supporting local businesses and fostering community gathering.

The Tipica festival transformed the traffic‑free historic centre into three themed squares showcasing olive oil, cured meats, pastries, wines and craft beers. A special “Vietrese” coin was minted, and musical performances by regional bands and itinerant groups filled the evenings, underscoring strong community involvement, especially from women, grand‑mothers and children.
