Sources: 8. Developments: 2. The Vila do Doce area in Ribeirão Pires is undergoing various developments and facing significant maintenance challenges. Initially, a partnership between the Ribeirão Pires City Hall and the Commercial, Industrial, and Agricultural Association of Ribeirão Pires (ACIARP) was established to install a temporary playground. This initiative, intended to run from Children's Day through the Christmas season, aimed to provide leisure options and stimulate local commerce, while offering free access to municipal students. However, local officials have since raised urgent concerns regarding the site’s deteriorating conditions. During a municipal session, city council members reported issues including inadequate maintenance, poor cleanliness, and safety risks such as broken glass in restrooms. Reports also highlighted drug use and hygiene concerns, including the presence of rodents in food service zones. In response, officials have called for increased police patrols, improved municipal maintenance, and the installation of a Municipal Civil Guard base to protect the area’s status as a tourist destination. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-09: Ribeirão Pires officials demand maintenance and security for Vila do Doce Council members in Ribeirão Pires are demanding urgent security and maintenance improvements at the Vila do Doce tourist site following reports of drug use, broken facilities, and poor hygiene. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ribeiro-pires-officials-demand-maintenance-and-security-for-vila-do-doce ### 2026-09-29: Vila do Doce to host temporary playground in Ribeirão Pires A temporary playground will be installed at Vila do Doce in Ribeirão Pires from Children's Day until Christmas to provide leisure and support local commerce. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/vila-do-doce-to-host-temporary-playground-in-ribeiro-pires --- Cite as: Vila do Doce infrastructure and maintenance issues.
