Villarreal CF manager Íñigo Pérez initially expressed frustration following a narrow 1-0 defeat against Real Madrid, though he maintained that his team remained highly competitive. Pérez suggested that based on statistics rather than points, the team would rank among the top three in the league.

Following underwhelming domestic performance, including a 12th-place standing in La Liga and a 0-0 draw against Elche, the club is reportedly considering coaching changes. While a 3-1 Champions League victory over Napoli provided some stability, José Luis Mendilibar and Roberto Martínez have emerged as potential candidates to replace Pérez.
