Sources: 25. Developments: 2. The third season of the Italian television series “Viola come il mare” premiered on Canale 5 on November 4, 2026. The 12 episode installment features a significant cast change: Rodrigo Guirao Díaz replaces Can Yaman as a police inspector in Palermo. Yaman previously indicated that professional commitments and long intervals between seasons influenced his decision to depart from the role of Inspector Francesco Demir. In this season, Guirao Díaz portrays Massimo Paternò, a new inspector who becomes the neighbor of protagonist Viola Vitale, played by Francesca Chillemi. The plot follows Vitale as she navigates investigations involving a murder at a wedding and the death of a swimmer, while managing her personal life and an evolving relationship with Paternò. The season debut achieved a 17% audience share, drawing approximately 2.38 million viewers, which outperformed competing programming on Rai 1. The series is produced by Lux Vide and Rti for Mediaset. ## Timeline ### 2026-11-03: Viola come il mare 3 debuts on Canale 5 with cast changes The third season of Viola come il mare premiered on Canale 5, featuring Francesca Chillemi and new lead Rodrigo Guirao Díaz, replacing Can Yaman in a high-rated debut. 18 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/viola-come-il-mare-returns-for-third-season-on-canale-5 ### 2026-10-31: Verissimo program features guests discussing Viola come il mare and David Rossi case The Verissimo program features guests discussing the new season of Viola come il mare, updates on the Maradona medical trial, and the reopened homicide investigation into the death of David Rossi. 10 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/mediaset-announces-upcoming-programming-changes-and-new-season-of-viola-come-il-mare --- Cite as: Viola come il mare season 3 release and viewership.
