By mid-August 2026, a separate incident occurred in the Norte de Santander department, where three officers from the Criminal Investigation and Interpol Directorate (Dijín) were kidnapped. Armed men intercepted the officers' vehicle on the road between Ocaña and Cúcuta. Authorities discovered the abandoned vehicle marked with ‘Farc-EP’ graffiti, leading to speculation regarding the involvement of FARC dissidents or the ELN.
