Developments: 2. In mid-September 2026, a massive fire destroyed between 26 and 28 warehouse buildings in the Kosambi Permai area of Tangerang Regency. The blaze, which reportedly began in a spring bed warehouse, required assistance from the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport fire department and armored water cannons from the Brimob unit. No casualties were reported in that incident. By mid-October 2026, a separate incident occurred in Ciputat, South Tangerang, where a powerful explosion at a fruit storage warehouse caused significant destruction. On the evening of October 14, 2026, the blast in the Pasar Cimanggis area killed two people, identified as Riko and Achmad Tri Prasetyo, and injured 11 others. Some victims sustained severe burns of up to 90 percent. Police and forensic teams from Bareskrim Polri have confirmed the incident was not caused by a bomb. During the investigation, authorities discovered a 52-kilogram ethylene gas cylinder and hoses used in a refining room designed to accelerate banana ripening. Investigators are also examining damaged electrical components, such as a motor or fan, to determine the exact cause. Law enforcement has secured 18 CCTV cameras and decoders for review. While the presence of ethylene gas is a primary lead, investigators have not yet reached a definitive conclusion regarding whether the explosion was accidental or intentional. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-15: Ciputat warehouse explosion kills two and injures 11 An explosion at a banana ripening warehouse in Ciputat, South Tangerang, killed two and injured 11.
