Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed that a fifth installment of the Matrix franchise is in development, with a projected release date after 2027. 

Reports indicate that Drew Goddard has been appointed to both write and direct the film. While the Wachowski siblings will remain involved as executive producers, this marks the first entry in the series without their direct involvement in direction or screenplay.
