The Warszawa44 Association faced significant controversy after naming Monika Laskowska, an influencer known for her work on OnlyFans and involvement in freak-fight events, as an ‘Ambassador of Remembrance’ for the 82nd anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.

The Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage revoked its honorary patronage of the commemorations, with Minister Marta Cienkowska stating that the selection “grossly violate the dignity and generally accepted standards of commemorating the heroes of the Warsaw Uprising.” While the Association maintained that the decision was made independently and not in consultation with the Ministry, it eventually removed Laskowska from its promotional materials following public backlash.

Following further scrutiny, the controversy expanded to include Marcin Różalski, identified as a supporter of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Although the Association ended its cooperation with both Laskowska and Różalski, the Polish government has intensified its response.

In addition to the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Sport and Tourism has now withdrawn its honorary patronages from the Association. This includes the revocation of support for the Youth Independence Cup Mazovia 2026 and various youth football tournaments commemorating the uprising. Under ministry regulations, the Association is required to immediately remove all references to these honorary patronages from its communications.
