The Kent and Covington Chambers of Commerce organized a candidate showcase at Green River College on October 6 to introduce voters to candidates from the 5th, 33rd, and 47th legislative districts. The event utilized a quiz-style game show format rather than traditional debates to discuss issues affecting local communities.

During the forum, twelve legislative candidates presented their platforms ahead of the November 3 general election. In the 33rd district, incumbent State Sen. Tina Orwall attended despite having no opponent. State Rep. Edwin Obras, a Democrat, introduced himself as a relatively new official, while Republican challenger Chris Martinez focused his platform on tax reform and Second Amendment rights. In the race for Position No. 2, Yuri Marinchik, a small business owner and immigrant from Belarus, challenged incumbent Democrat Rep. Mia Su-Ling Gregerson.

The 47th district was represented by candidates such as Republican Kristina Soltys, a Covington City Council member seeking to unseat an incumbent Democrat. Beyond individual platforms, candidates addressed five main policy categories: public safety, homelessness, state spending, affordability, and government accountability. Discussions included varying approaches to fentanyl, water supplies, disaster preparedness, and the coordination between law enforcement and social services.
