The National Institute of Potable Water and Sewerage (INAPA) initially reported a temporary interruption of potable water services in several sectors of Villa Central and upper Barahona, Dominican Republic. The outage was attributed to an electrical failure at the Cobo pumping station involving a burnt control panel circuit board, which rendered the station inoperable.

In response to service deficiencies, INAPA began evaluating land in the Barahona province for the construction of new tubular wells. A commission of technicians and hydrologists is conducting studies to identify strategic sectors for reinforcement, including Los Maestros, Altos de Blanquizales, Balaguer, Miramar, and La Montañita, among others. This initiative aims to address water shortages and strengthen the efficiency of local aqueducts.
