Recent developments in West African music highlight both established international performers and rising talent. Malian Grammy-nominated singer Fatoumata Diawara is scheduled to perform at the Olympia in Paris on November 25 as part of her European tour, following the June release of her album, Massa, which blends Wassoulou traditions with pop and electronic influences.

In Senegal, artist Aïta Senghor is gaining international recognition after releasing her single, ‘O Seereer’. Senghor, a singer-songwriter with a Serer voice, has performed in Kenya and England. Following a performance in Mombasa, she received artistic mentorship from Baaba Maal, resulting in an invitation to his Festival du Blues du Fleuve.
