Sources: 3. Developments: 2. The West African Tax Administration Forum (WATAF) has initiated several programs to enhance regional tax administration and revenue mobilization. In August 2026, WATAF launched the Strengthening Tax Administration Capacity Project in West Africa (STACP-WA). Supported by a US$5.3 million grant from the African Development Bank, this four-year project targets Burkina Faso, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, and Sierra Leone to improve institutional capacity and revenue collection. Following this, WATAF collaborated with the International Monetary Fund’s TADAT Secretariat to conduct the first Francophone TADAT Training and Certification Session in Cotonou, Benin, in late August 2026. The training, which included officials from Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, and Senegal, resulted in 175 officials successfully completing the program.
