Political tensions in West Bengal have escalated through a series of disputes between Suvendu Adhikari and Mamata Banerjee. Initially, Adhikari attributed the removal of approximately 2.7 million names from the state’s voter list during the Special Intensive Revision process to Banerjee. He stated that judicial officers performed the deletions in compliance with Supreme Court directions following a petition by Banerjee, accusing her of attempting to deflect blame for electoral losses. The Trinamool Congress has contested these deletions, demanding the reinstatement of voters. Conflict subsequently shifted to a dispute over Banerjee’s 2021 election campaign injury. Adhikari challenged her claims of a leg injury by citing a medical report that allegedly showed no signs of a fracture. In response, Banerjee’s legal counsel issued notices to medical institutions regarding the unauthorized release of medical records. While the Trinamool Congress has questioned the authenticity of the reports cited by Adhikari, the dispute has led to further accusations of personal targeting and potential investigations following upcoming by-elections. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-04: Suvendu Adhikari challenges Mamata Banerjee over 2021 injury claims West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari has challenged Mamata Banerjee’s claims of a 2021 election injury, citing medical reports that suggest no fracture occurred, sparking a legal and political dispute. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/suvendu-adhikari-challenges-mamata-banerjee-over-2021-injury-claims ### 2026-09-27: Shubhendu Adhikari blames Mamata Banerjee for West Bengal voter list deletions West Bengal CM Shubhendu Adhikari blamed Mamata Banerjee for the removal of 2.7 million names from voter lists, citing Supreme Court directives and judicial decisions. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/shubhendu-adhikari-blames-mamata-banerjee-for-west-bengal-voter-list-deletions --- Cite as: West Bengal political dispute.
