The upcoming thriller film “Whalefall”, directed by Brian Duffield and based on the 2023 novel by Daniel Kraus, is scheduled for a 2026 release. Produced by Imagine Entertainment, the 105-minute film stars Austin Abrams as a diver who is swallowed by a sperm whale while searching for his father, played by Josh Brolin.

The story is described as a claustrophobic survival thriller that uses flashbacks to examine the emotional relationship between the father and son. The cast also includes Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, and Jane Levy. While the film depicts a human being swallowed by a whale, marine experts have noted the scientific improbability of such an event, noting that sperm whales typically use suction to consume prey like squid.
