The production has reached a milestone of 14 million visitors and currently ranks as the ninth longest-running production in West End history. To commemorate the anniversary, The Royal Mint has released a collection of themed coins featuring iconic elements from the show, such as Elphaba’s hat and Glinda’s wand. These include various editions, including a gold version made from recycled gold. Anniversary celebrations are scheduled for late September 2026, including a special ‘Pink’ performance on September 26 dedicated to the character Glinda. The production, based on Gregory Maguire’s novel with music by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, reimagines the origins of Elphaba and Glinda from ‘The Wizard of Oz’. Renewed global interest in the franchise has coincided with the upcoming Hollywood film adaptation starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Tickets for the production are currently on sale through May 30, 2027. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-24: Wicked celebrates 20th anniversary in London's West End The musical «Wicked» celebrates its 20th anniversary in London's West End, marking its status as one of the region's longest-running productions at the Apollo Victoria Theatre. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/wicked-musical-celebrates-20th-anniversary-and-14-million-visitors-in-london ### 2026-09-16: The Royal Mint launches Wicked 20th anniversary coins The Royal Mint is releasing commemorative coins to celebrate 20 years of the musical Wicked in London’s West End, featuring designs inspired by the show’s iconic characters and imagery. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/the-royal-mint-launches-wicked-20th-anniversary-coins --- Cite as: Wicked musical 20th anniversary in London.
