Following devastating wildfires in July, recovery efforts have focused on restoring infrastructure in the Municipality of Agios Vasileios, Rethymno.

Initial funding of €1.5 million was approved for the municipality to repair water supply, irrigation, and road networks. These repairs aim to support local residents, agriculture, and emergency response capabilities. 

Subsequent funding of €153,000 was approved by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy specifically for water supply projects in Saktouria. This project includes the construction of a 150-cubic-meter reservoir, a 1,000-meter water supply network, and a pumping station at the ‘Kamara’ location to improve the reliability of the region's water supply.
