Emergency services in Portugal have been managing various wildfire incidents and related risks. In the Santarém district, a wildfire between Vale Mouriscas and Lercas was controlled by Sunday morning after a mobilization of 578 personnel. Two responders sustained minor injuries during the operation, though no residential damage was reported.

In a separate incident, four firefighters from the Arouca volunteer corps were hospitalized after their vehicle fell into a 150-meter ravine while responding to a forest fire. While one firefighter has been discharged, three remain hospitalized, including one individual in a “complex clinical state.”

Concurrently, the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC) has issued weather alerts for mainland Portugal. Incoming frontal systems are expected to bring heavy, persistent rain, particularly in the Northwest region, raising risks of urban flooding, landslides, and slippery road conditions.
