India is observing Wildlife Week under the national theme ‘Connecting Habitats, Thriving Wildlife.’ The initiative involves various regional efforts to promote environmental awareness and biodiversity protection.

In Nashik, a cycle rally was organized to promote nature conservation. In Assam, focus has been placed on the endangered Gangetic River dolphin, which maintains a significant portion of its global population within the Brahmaputra river system.

In Nagaland, observances were held across multiple districts. In Kohima, officials emphasized the importance of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and the role of community traditions and organizations in forest management. In Wokha, collaborative programs addressed threats to fragile ecosystems, including deforestation, habitat loss, and illegal wildlife trade.

In Odisha, the 72nd Wildlife Week was hosted in Bhubaneswar by the Nature and Wildlife Conservation Society of Odisha in partnership with Nandankanan Zoological Park. The event featured discussions on man-animal conflict and the ecological importance of dolphins, alongside a prize distribution for an Odia essay competition. The program concluded with a call for collective action to protect natural habitats and increase public environmental awareness.
