The Malaysian drama series ‘Yi Wo’ (also referred to as ‘Yi He’), starring Ali Lee and Leoi Noi, was removed from the Hong Kong HOY 77 broadcast schedule ten days before its scheduled late-October premiere. Chow Tai Fook Media and Entertainment, the parent company of HOY, stated that the licensor, Astro, requested to withdraw authorization for the series shortly before the broadcast date. In response to the cancellation, HOY announced it would replace the time slot with a Japanese drama. Lead actress Ali Lee expressed disappointment that the work would not reach the Hong Kong audience but noted she was unaware of online speculation regarding potential contract disputes involving co-star Carson Lo. While the series will not air on HOY or local Hong Kong cable, production representatives indicated they remain open to negotiating broadcasting rights with other platforms or regions. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-24: Malaysian drama ‘Yi He’ pulled from Hong Kong broadcast due to licensing withdrawal The Malaysian drama ‘Yi He’ was pulled from its Hong Kong broadcast slot after Astro suddenly withdrew licensing rights ten days before its scheduled premiere. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/malaysian-drama-yi-he-pulled-from-hong-kong-broadcast-due-to-licensing-withdrawal ### 2026-10-21: HOY TV drama ‘Yi Wo’ pulled from schedule days before premiere The Malaysian drama ‘Yi Wo’ was pulled from HOY TV's schedule days before its premiere after the licensor Astro withdrew authorization, sparking controversy and online debate. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/hoy-tv-drama-yi-wo-pulled-from-schedule-days-before-premiere --- Cite as: Withdrawal of Malaysian drama from Hong Kong broadcast.
