Sources: 3. Developments: 2. Wizards of the Coast has announced several updates and new product releases for Magic: The Gathering. The company is overhauling its booster pack formula starting with the ‘Nauctis: The Sunken Realm’ set in 2027. This includes the introduction of ‘God Packs’—packs consisting exclusively of rare and mythic rare cards—available in both Play and Collector Boosters. To accommodate these changes, regular Play Boosters will no longer guarantee foils, while Collector Boosters will be reduced to 12 cards per pack. Additionally, the ‘Mystery Booster: Commander Edition’ will receive a wider release via the ‘Festival in a Box: Atlanta’ preorder. This edition contains 24 boosters featuring reprints, playtest cards, and color-specific cards. The release also includes a ‘Secret Gallery: Atlanta Foil Edition’ and various full-art textless promotional cards. Preorders for this collection are scheduled to begin on October 19, 2026, at a retail price of $249.99. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-05: Wizards of the Coast announces Magic: The Gathering Mystery Booster Commander Edition Wizards of the Coast will release the Magic: The Gathering ‘Mystery Booster: Commander Edition’ as part of the Atlanta Festival in a Box preorder starting October 19, 2026. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/wizards-of-the-coast-announces-magic-the-gathering-mystery-booster-commander-edition ### 2026-10-05: Wizards of the Coast announces God Packs for Magic: The Gathering Wizards of the Coast is introducing ‘God Packs’ to Magic: The Gathering in 2027, featuring exclusively rare and mythic cards, alongside changes to booster pack compositions and foil drop rates. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/wizards-of-the-coast-announces-god-packs-for-magic-the-gathering --- Cite as: Wizards of the Coast Magic: The Gathering product updates.
