Recent developments in Nigeria highlight various engagements with the legacy of Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka.

Content creator Habeeb Hamzat, known as Peller, announced plans to host Soyinka for a livestream event. Peller described the proposed session as a “proper English day” intended to focus on formal English, grammar, and Nigeria’s literary heritage.

Separately, an exhibition titled ‘Ake to Stockholm’ has been organized to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Soyinka receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature. Part of the 27th Lagos Book and Art Festival, the exhibition will run from November 16 to 29, 2026, at Kongi’s Harvest Gallery in Lagos. The program will feature archival displays, a documentary film, and an illustrated comic book to explore the playwright’s intellectual journey and historic achievement.
