The rivalry between NEVER Openweight Champion Wolf Aaron and Kosei Fujita intensified following Aaron’s absence from the New Japan Pro-Wrestling G1 Climax 36 event on August 16 due to illness. During the event, Fujita launched a verbal attack against the champion, insulting him and claiming he had not “added value to the title”.

Following a tag team match during the Road to Destruction tour where Fujita defeated Wolf, New Japan Pro-Wrestling officially announced a title match for the King of Pro Wrestling 2026 event on October 12. Fujita is set to challenge Aaron for the NEVER Openweight Championship at Ryogoku Sumo Hall.
