The 12th edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) is scheduled to run from 29 October to 5 December 2026, featuring eight franchises.

Ahead of the season launch in Sydney, players noted an increase in the standard of domestic talent, creating a highly competitive landscape. Following the Hobart Hurricanes’ victory in the previous edition, the tournament structure for this season includes a 40-match regular-season group stage followed by a three-match finals series.

Several teams have finalized their rosters, including the Sydney Thunder, which completed its 15-player primary squad with the signing of batter Claire Moore, and the Perth Scorchers, which added Taneale Peschel and Ines McKeon. In the Adelaide Strikers camp, all-rounder Tahlia McGrath expressed her intention to use the tournament as a platform to regain her position in the Australian national T20 side.

The season is set to commence with a double header at Melbourne’s Junction Oval, featuring the Melbourne Renegades against the Sydney Thunder and the Melbourne Stars against the defending champions, the Hobart Hurricanes. The Hurricanes enter the season with a squad including Chamari Athapaththu, Nicola Carey, and Lizelle Lee, while the Melbourne Stars are led by Meg Lanning. The league stage is expected to run through November 29, followed by the knockout stage on December 1, a challenger match on December 3, and the final on December 5.
