Developments: 2. In the Arica region, initiatives to support women’s economic autonomy and social empowerment have expanded through various government and non-governmental programs. Initially, the National Service for Women and Gender Equality (SernamEG) expanded its ‘Programa 4 a 7’ by adding Colegio Eduardo Frei Montalva to its network of after-school care facilities. This expansion aims to facilitate women’s participation in the labor market, studies, or training by providing care for children and adolescents aged 6 to 13. Additionally, 58 women completed the ‘Academia Mujer Emprende 2026’ via the María Olga Ester NGO, receiving training in modules such as networking, financing, and project formulation. Subsequently, the Foundation for the Promotion and Development of Women (PRODEMU) and SernamEG certified approximately 100 women in the Arica province. This training involved workshops covering leadership, technical skills, business plan development, and sexual and reproductive rights. Regional directors noted that these tools are intended to assist women in making decisions regarding their own life projects and economic independence. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-08: PRODEMU and SernamEG certify 100 women in Arica Nearly 100 women in Arica, Chile, received certification following training programs by PRODEMU and SernamEG focused on leadership, technical skills, and economic autonomy. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/prodemu-and-sernameg-certify-100-women-in-arica ### 2026-08-26: SernamEG expands childcare and entrepreneurship support in Arica SernamEG has expanded after-school care services in Arica and certified 58 women through the Academia Mujer Emprende program to bolster regional economic autonomy. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/sernameg-expands-childcare-and-entrepreneurship-support-in-arica --- Cite as: Women's empowerment initiatives in Arica.
