The World Triathlon Championship Finals in Pontevedra featured significant achievements for international para-triathletes.

In the PTVI category, Susana Rodríguez and her guide, Sara Pérez, secured their eighth world title with a time of 1:06:37. This victory serves as personal redemption for the Galicia-based athlete, a two-time Paralympic gold medalist, following the 2023 World Championship where she earned a silver medal after receiving what she described as an ‘unjust penalty’. Rodríguez noted the intense support from local spectators during the race.

The Spanish delegation also saw Nil Riudavets earn a silver medal in the PTS4 category.

Australia’s Lauren Parker secured her sixth PTWC World Championship title, becoming the nation’s most successful para-triathlete by surpassing the previous record of five titles. Parker maintained a lead through all stages of the race. Other Australian successes included Anu Francis winning silver in the Women’s PTS2 category and the Australian Para Mixed Team Relay squad earning a silver medal.
