Chinese manufacturer Yadea and Kenyan-based Spiro have entered a strategic partnership to expand electric mobility across Africa. The collaboration aims to combine Yadea’s manufacturing and R&D capabilities with Spiro’s operational network and battery-swapping ecosystem to provide electric two-wheelers tailored to local road conditions and commercial needs.

Following the partnership announcement, Spiro secured $18 million in debt financing from the Africa Go Green Fund (AGG), managed by Cygnum Capital. This brings AGG’s total commitment to Spiro to $36 million. The new funding is intended to support the deployment of electric motorcycles and the expansion of battery-swapping infrastructure, with a specific focus on growth in Uganda and Rwanda.
